Trainer Doug Teeft has been working and training canine companions for over 35 years. In his youth Dougs' father was Dog Master and trainer for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Having grown up in an environment where working and training dogs was a part of everyday life, Doug quickly learned the ropes to become a successful trainer himself.
Wishing to expand on his training knowledge Doug contacted American Rescue Dog Association (ARDA) and soon after formed and trained the first Canadian branch of this association which has since become the Nova Scotia K-9 Rescue Team (ARDA-NS).
Doug then began taking and exchanging training with various agencies across the US and Canada. Doug's training with ARDA included instructors from the International US K-9 Federal Emergency Management Association as well as specialists in the use of dogs for detection.
During this entire time, Doug worked on creating a speciality company, for search and detection of gas line leaks on pipe lines starting the first company trained, insured and set up for this unique job. Doug currently has three German Shepherds at various stages of training in speciality work including search and rescue, disaster searching, evidence recovery, and gas line leaks.
